Radiant colors shine forth, as each artist travels into the unknown, bringing back surreal visions of our universe to share with audiences. Visitors will enjoy exploring and interpreting the messages so brilliantly expressed through the power of color. Metamorphosis is a captivating journey into the hearts and minds of a talented grouping of artists with unique backgrounds and experiences. The works explores the possibilities beyond our ordinary perception, keying into personal insights, metaphysical concepts, and timeless mysteries beyond each corner is a new way of perceiving the world that will electrify fans of contemporary art. For art lovers who are seeking unbridled visionary painting, they need search no longer. The Portal to Enigma collects three contemporary artists whose visionary works defy easy definition as they craft personal revelations with a powerful, expressive force. This phenomenal selection of paintings confronts the viewer with poetic visual puzzles and graceful statements about the human subconscious. The versatility displayed in the works of The Persistence of Form underscores the idea that as long as people dream and imagine art will never cease to exist, inspire, and bring about contemplation in others. Paul M. Cote stumbled upon art in his search to find his spirit and self. For him, art comes from an emotional place within, an unleashing of previously hidden energies that finally found a home on canvas. Borne from this discovery are Cote's signature topographic and planetary images that are at once real and surreal, brimming with color and energy. Elements and forms are imbued with meaning, a clashing of raw instinct and the cerebral that allows us to see the fire contained within.
Here the paint is not merely applied to the canvas. Rather, it is heavily layered, swirled around, rising and falling and creating elevation, texture, and an overall sculpted appearance. The resulting celestial visions are both primitive and elegant, eluding definition as images range from realistic renderings to abstractions. Colors span the spectrum and levels of intensity, from muted to vibrant, and forms are at times heavy but also delicate. Whatever the context, in the end Cote's canvases hum with energy, infused with a passion that has come to life through the layers of paint.

Chelsea's Agora Gallery is pleased to present Beyond Borders: fine art from Canada and a four part collective exhibition that is scheduled to run from October 2, 2009 through October 23, 2009.
Beyond Borders is an exhibition of innovative and stunning Canadian Art. Works span the range of artistic expression, each artist imparting with their unique style a little piece of the Canadian spirit. Playful, humorous, saturated with color, and presented in unique fashion, this is an exhibition to delight the senses.
The unique styles and working methods of the artists showcased in Four Degrees of Abstraction are a consequence of seeking to express the ineffable in new, personal ways. Rapturous beauty combines with intriguing symbolism to explore the inner and outer worlds; each artwork becomes a note in a collective effort to unlock the mysteries of being. Sensorial Realities is a collection of whimsical works of contemporary art exploring both the spiritual and earthly themes. These visionary artists take us on a merry expedition though mystic jungles and intergalactic realms, while delving into the yearly cycles of birth and rebirth. Other works focus on the timeless, transformative power of the figure. Together these creative minds provide us with an extraordinary art experience. Soothing naturalist vistas await audiences of The Portal of Tranquility. Nature has always retained the power to enhance our understanding of ourselves and these artists recognize the potent visual possibilities of the natural domain. Here we find each painter, in varying degrees of realism, striking out on their own path and taking delight in the rhythms and energies of the creation itself. The Saturated Palette is a collection of artists conceiving novel forms of expressive abstract painting. Highly energetic and personal, these artists forge new pathways of visual articulation, while exploring music, philosophy and performing arts. The selection of art works will delight audiences who embark upon an exploration of imagery rich with symbolism and a vigorous pulse. This is contemporary painting at it's finest: colorful, brave, and breathtaking.

Chelsea's Agora Gallery announced they will unveil a three-part exhibition that is scheduled to run from October 27, 2009 through November 17, 2009.
Altered States of Reality provides a glimpse of the world as captured through the lens of a camera, technology, and through the artists own inner vision. The gifted artist's participating in Altered States of Reality offer us a perception of the world, as seen, through a complex, enigmatic fusion of emotions and technical mastery. The old boundaries have come tumbling down and the new reality has been altered and is forever changing. This exciting exhibition allows us to challenge our ideas, parables and perceptions that constitute our own reality. Elements of Abstraction presents audiences with a rich kaleidoscope of color, form, and texture that in conjunction breathes life into abstract artworks. Whether employing shimmering brushstrokes or bold fields of color, nonrepresentational art, with its lack of familiar forms, allows the work speak to us on an especially elemental level. Through their deeply personal forms of expression, these artists offer a stunning glimpse into contemporary abstract painting. Portals of Perception bridges the wide expanse of artistic possibilities, gathering together impressionist, realist, and abstract paintings. What we find, surprisingly, is not the differences but the similarities as these talented artists vocalize the inspirations of places, people, and feelings. While the particular visual language may differ, the spirit behind the works has many overlapping areas, because to be human is to realize ourselves within our mental and physical environs.

Muskoka artist Morgan Earl's photo-based impressionist images are vibrant evidence of his discovery of water; the exhibit opens July 22 at Leonardo Galleries in Toronto
Port Sydney, Ontario artist Morgan Earl (who was recently featured in G8/G20 Canada exhibit) debuts a new series of large format images, which exhibit his fascination with the enigmatic qualities of water. His solo showcase "Liquid Mirrors" opens on Thursday, July 22 (6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.) and runs to August 14, 2010 at Leonardo Galleries in Yorkville.
States Earl, "My goal here is to achieve abstraction and realism within a single image. Water is our lifeblood. It is so unique, and so profound, its miraculous properties are still waiting to be discovered."
Raised on rivers and sailed on four oceans, Morgan Earl divides his time between Port Sydney, Ontario (on the Muskoka River, between Bracebridge and Huntsville) and France's Cote d'Azur, and Earl's subject locations range widely wherever he finds water - from Saint-Tropez to Bahamas, from Cannes to Tuscany or his favourite rivers of Muskoka.
Seeing each work as a short story and armed with a 200-mm Nikon lens, Earl applies an originally conceived digital process and Chromira printing technique to bring forward powerful and sumptuous colours. The finished prints, which range up to 48 inches square, are then backed onto an aluminum substrate and a high gloss laminate is applied for sheen and permanency.
Morgan Earl's style is informed by 19th century artistic risk takers van Gogh and Cezanne and the Canadian Group of Seven led by Tom Thomson. These artists were unafraid to cross artistic boundaries to realize their new visions of our natural world. With this same spirit, Morgan paints with his camera.
He brings a rich career in the visual, literary and digital arts together and now, in his fourth year as a full-time artist, Morgan has devoted his efforts to solo exhibitions and has shown in galleries all over Ontario and in France. He has also published three photography books (Liquid Mirrors: An Intimate View of Muskoka Rivers, Liquid Mirrors: Cote Sud d'Europe and Liquid Mirrors: An abstract approach to water imagery).
Quote:
"Is it art or photography? Who cares! Earl's images are on canvas because they deserve to be; he's given us a fresh original interpretation of our raw Canadian rivers that catches and celebrates their glory." - Pat Feheley, Feheley Fine Arts, Toronto.
